The waters off Puerto Vallarta are teeming with sea creatures. On this tour, you'll set sail in search of the most impressive of them all – the humpback whale. And seeing them in their natural habitat offers up the ideal opportunity for those perfect holiday snaps.

Casting off from Banderas Bay, you'll head out in search of one of the largest mammals in the world – the humpback whale. Mexico's Pacific coast is home to huge schools of these fascinating animals and your knowledgeable captain knows just where to head.

Along the way, an expert guide fills you in on a wealth of whale facts as well as plenty of info about other wildlife in the area. As you sail, you'll keep your camera close as these majestic creatures can appear at any moment – and they just love to show off.

  • An additional environmental fee of MXN 25.00 per person is not included and is payable directly on the day – this fee goes towards the conservation of whales
  • Minimum age is 6 years for motorboat safari and 4 years for catamaran
  • Child prices apply to children ages 4 to 11. Children 12 years and older are considered an adult
  • Transport not included. Due to local transportation laws, you must take a taxi to the meeting point to start your excursion. The cost varies from hotel to hotel but is around USD 10.00 each way
  • If your hotel is based in Downtown Puerto Vallarta, and you use the API Marina to access your excursion, an additional tax of MXN 32.00 (approximately) per person will be required. This is a federal tax
  • Excursion meeting points and time will need to be confirmed with the TUI or Destination Services Rep in the resort (or by phone)
  • To ensure maximum visibility, this tour is conducted on inflatable motor boats without bathroom facilities
  • Option to book excursion on a catamaran with open bar and lunch included
  • We prioritize responsible and respectful wildlife viewing on all of our dolphin and whale-watching tours, and we try to avoid interfering with their natural behaviours as much as possible. While sightings can't be 100% guaranteed due to this conservation-focussed effort, we'll try our best to make sure you see them.
