Cosa aspettarsi
Start your tour at Moishe's Kosher Bakery, where you'll enjoy some delicious baked goods. Then, visit the beautiful and historic Bialystoker Synagogue. This former church with its Tiffany-inspired stained glass has a long history (it's believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad), and you'll be able to learn about it during a guided storytelling of the Lower East Side's history. Continue with a walking tour down historic East Broadway, visiting NYC landmarks like the Henry Street Settlement House, the Forward Building, and a shteibl, a one-room synagogue. View the exterior of Beth Hamedrash Hagadol Congregation and admire its beautiful gothic structure, which once housed the largest Russian Jewish Orthodox Congregation in the U.S. End your tour with tasty treats from favorite local spots including Kossar's Bialys, one of the most famous bialy bakeries in New York, and the Pickle Guys, the only remaining pickle store on the Lower East Side. Your last stop will be Economy Candy, the quintessential old-fashioned candy store once known for penny candy (imagine that!).
