Ontdek Italica; de eerste authentiek Romeinse stad in Spanje, gelegen op slechts 15 minuten afstand van Sevilla. Het werd in 206 voor Christus gesticht door de Romeinse generaal Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus en was de geboorteplaats van twee Romeinse keizers, Trajanus en Hadrianus.
Momenteel heet het Archeologisch Ensemble van Italica. Bezoekers kunnen vandaag de dag genieten van een wandeling door de oude straten en het verkennen van de ruïnes van de huizen en openbare gebouwen. Een spektakel dat gezien moet worden is het amfitheater. Het had een capaciteit voor 25.000 mensen en was de derde grootste in het Romeinse Rijk. Andere belangrijke bezienswaardigheden zijn de mozaïekvloeren, het Traianeum, de beelden van Diana, Venus en Trajanus, de openbare baden en het gedeeltelijk gereconstrueerde Romeinse theater in Santiponce. Dankzij het feit dat geen van de volgende beschavingen zich over de ruïnes van Italica heeft gevestigd, is het een behoorlijk goed bewaard gebleven stad en zeker een bezoek waard.
