Next on the agenda is Tha Phae Gate — the starting point of your nostalgic trishaw ride through the delightful old town. En route, there's a stop at Wat Chedi Luang, renowned for its colossal ancient stupa, a significant landmark of the Lanna era. Following this, you'll hop into a van to explore two more of Chiang Mai’s most significant temples: Wat Chiang Man, the city’s oldest temple, and Wat Phra Singh, which houses the esteemed Phra Singh Buddha image amidst striking Lanna-style architecture.
The journey continues up the mountain to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a spiritual emblem of Chiang Mai perched 1,073 meters above sea level. Constructed in 1926 BE (1383 AD), the temple's location was selected based on a legend: a sacred white elephant carrying a relic of the Buddha ascended the mountain, trumpeted thrice, knelt down, and peacefully passed away — marking this hallowed spot.
