19 września 2021 r. w pobliżu La Palmy powstał nowy krater wulkaniczny. Wulkan znany wcześniej jako Cumbre Vieja wybuchł, całkowicie zmieniając krajobraz na zachód od miasta. Wędrując 6,5 km po nowo ochrzczonej Tajogaite - popękanej górze - prawie dotrzesz do krateru. Stąd roztaczają się niesamowite widoki na strumienie lawy i dolinę Aridane.
