On this full-day tour, you’ll start by setting off from Linz towards Mondsee. This lakeside village has a touch of Hollywood magic – its church starred in The Sound of Music. After soaking up the classic Austrian Alpine backdrop, you’ll carry on to Salzburg for a guided tour of its UNESCO-listed old town, ticking off sights like Mirabell Palace, Mozart Square, and the Salzburg Cathedral. This Baroque masterpiece has stood proudly in the city centre since the 17th-century. You’ll step inside Mozart’s birthplace, too, for a peek into the early years of this world-famous composer. Before heading back to Linz, there’s free time to grab a coffee or some lunch, wander down Salzburg’s main shopping street, Getreidegasse, or treat yourself to a Mozartkugel chocolate – the city’s signature choccy treat. Just so you know, the journey from Linz to Mondsee is around 90 minutes.
