Discover Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe at 3,350 meters, with provided transportation from Messina and decide which altitude you want to reach.
Depart by bus with a tour leader to arrive at the Alcantara Gorge, where you'll make a short stop. The Gorges of the Alcantara river are formed from solidified basalt and are quite impressive. Then proceed to Randazzo where you will board the 'Circumetnea', an old traditional narrow-gauge train that goes around the foot of the volcano reaching up to Adrano in the South.
Hop back in the bus again to reach your final stop at 1,900 meters. Here you will have 3-hours to explore the area on your own, choose to trek to the most recent lava flows and the Silvestri craters, have lunch or buy snacks at a local restaurant.
