Westminster Abbey

An absolutely essential part of any visit to London, Westminster Abbey is one of the city's most iconic buildings. Steeped in over a thousand years of history, Benedictine monks first started worshipping at this site in the middle of the tenth century and the current building has been there for over 700 years.

This magnificent gothic construct is a sight to behold and the incredible stained glass is some of the most impressive in the UK.

Coronation Chair

Created for King Edward I in 1296, the chair has been the seat for the crowning of every monarch since 1308, including Queen Victoria and our current reigning Queen, HRH Elizabeth II.

Poets' Corner

The literary corner of the Abbey is named due to the large amount of poets and writers buried there, including Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling and Thomas Hardy.

Kings and Queens

Westminster Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and seventeen monarchs are buried there. The Abbey was also the place where William and Kate tied the knot in 2011.

In order to gain entry to Westminster Abbey you must print your ticket - all redeemable tickets/vouchers must be printed and exchanged at the entrance.
Guests can visit the Abbey at any time. Please see the schedule for opening hours.
There will be a security search upon entry for all visitors.
Westminster Abbey is a working church and subject to occasional closures due to special services and events – please check the website for further details.
The Abbey offers free handheld audioguides for your visit, available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.
Hop on Hop off London Bus Tours: Frequency Every 20 mins on the Red and Blue routes and Every 30 mins on the Orange route.
River Thames Boat Ride:- One way ticket with 24hrs and 48hrs bus ticket.
Open All Year except 24, 25, 26 December and 1st January
Boats leave every 30 minutes from: Westminster Pier to Tower Millennium Pier or vice versa
Your ticket will be valid for one way journey only and not for a return trip.
Jack the Ripper Walking Tour:- Start time: 3:30pm daily (Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time) and Finish time: 5pm
Royal Walking Tour:- Start time: 10am daily (Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time) and Finish: 12pm
