The adventure kicks off in the north, with visits to the Red Tower and Popeye's Village – the set where the 1980 musical was filmed. We'll then wind our way towards Mgarr to see Fomm ir-Rih Bay. Next up is walled Mdina, possibly one of the world's most grandiose villages. Its baroque cathedral is a must-visit. And the basilica in nearby Mosta is also a must.
We'll then head to Naxxar, famed for its cart ruts that curve down the hillside. Lunch is in an award-winning restaurant. In the afternoon, there are stops at history-steeped Vittoriosa and at Birgu's Neolithic temples. Rounding off the day is the fishing village of Marsaxlokk. And, if you fancy more, you can choose an optional boat trip to the Blue Grotto.
