Dive into the world of Vikings during a visit to the Viking Fyrkat Center, one of the five largest Viking fortresses of Denmark. The center consists of the Fyrkat ring fortress and the Viking Farmstead. You will visit both to get the complete Viking experience.
Meet your local guide in the morning and board the train to Hobro. After a 45 min scenic ride, you will arrive in Hobro and a private transfer will take you and your guide to Fyrkat Center. Meanwhile, your guide will explain to you how the Viking fortress was constructed in 980 under the reign of Harald Bluetooth, King of Denmark. In the Fyrkat center, you will explore the 9 reconstructed buildings made of oak and mud that together resemble a Viking farm. Visit the various buildings and learn about life on a Viking farm.
Your guide will next lead you to the sight of the original ring fortress. See walls of the circle and within the places where once 16 longhouses stood, now indicated by white stones. Outside of the circle a longhouse has been re/constructed to give you an idea of how this ring fortress once looked back in the Viking era. After visiting both sides you will take the train back to Aarhus together with your guide.
