Abisko National Park is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights because of its blue hole and micro climate. This is also the area with the most cloud free nights within the Arctic Circle, giving you a higher chance to see the lights on any night you head out.
This longest Northern Lights tour will start with a pick you up from your hotel in Abisko or Björkliden. You will then start your night journey in a heated bus to the base in Abisko village. Once you get there a fire will be lit up and reindeer meat will be cooked inside the Sami tent or cabin. As you eat dinner, your guide will explain more about this natural light phenomenon.
You will then go for a drive to a secret location to see the Northern Lights. The location depends on the weather conditions, and if there are clouds over Abisko your guide will take you to Kiruna’s arctic forest or even to the coast of Norway. Throughout the tour, your guide will tell you many stories about the vikings and the local area.
Once you find a clear sky, you will relax and admire the Northern Lights and your guide will take pictures and videos which will be sent to you within 3 days after the tour. If you bring your own camera, your guide will help you set it up to get the best shots. As the northern lights dance in the sky, a campfire will be lit and you will be served hot drinks so you can keep warm. After the tour, you will be driven back to your accommodation.
