In this day tour you will be traveling by bus through the beautiful area outside Ålesund to the land of the trolls. Your guide will share many interesting facts about the area and you will hear some fascinating stories throughout this excursion.
Your first stop for the day is Sjøholt, a part of Møre og Romsdal which is especially known for the furniture industry. On the way there you will pass the house of Ivar Åsen, the founder of the Nynorsk language, which is the second language in Norway. From Sjøholt, you will travel along the Storfjord via Stordal and its Rose Church which was built in 1789.
You will then head to Valldal which is famous for its delicious strawberries, followed by a stop at Gudbrandsjuvet, a breathtaking 5-meter narrow and 25-meter deep ravine. The more adventurous travellers can walk over a bridge from one side of the ravine to the other. From here you will drive through the National Park Reinheimen to the Trollstigen plateau.
You will pass through the Troll Road (Trollstigen) with its 11 hairpin bends. From here you can enjoy amazing views of the King, Queen and Bishop mountains, as well as the Stigfossen waterfall. At the bottom of the Troll Road there will be an extra photo stop at a location which offers some unparalleled picture opportunities of the Stigfossen.
Next up you will visit the Troll Wall (Trollveggen) which is Europe’s tallest vertical rock face. Your final stop is at the impressive Romsdalshorn mountain, after which you will head back to Ålesund.
