Our tour will start with a guided walking tour of Siena along the main road that used to be “The Francigena route”, the ancient pilgrims' path. The first stop will be an art workshop where you will see the gilding of a painting with real gold, using a technique dating back to 1200s.
We will enter the Cathedral, discovering its treasures and we will climb up The “Facciatone”, the façade of the New Duomo – the view from its panoramic terrace will astound you! Strolling along medieval alleys, we will reach Piazza del Campo where your local guide will tell you all the secrets of the “Palio”, the most ancient horse race in the world.
After some free time to eat and do some shopping, we will head to Monteriggioni, with its imposing walls that resisted for centuries to sieges and attacks. If you love video games, you will find yourself inside the set of Assassin’s Creed…
Our last stop will be the famous San Gimignano, the Manhattan of the Middle Ages, nowadays its 14 towers of various heights make its skyline striking.
In San Gimignano there are many shops with typical local products, but a not to be missed is the World Champion Ice Cream! You cannot leave this lovely village without tasting its famous and unique white wine “Vernaccia” in front of a breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside!
