Your day starts in Hellesylt, a small village situated at the very end of the Sunnylvsfjord with a spectacular waterfall. Accompanied by a professional guide, you will head out by bus to explore some iconic must-see sites on the way to Geiranger, which will be the last stop of this tour.
You will first head towards the lake of Hornindal, which is known for its natural beauty and for being the deepest lake in Europe. According to a local legend, a sea serpent lives somewhere in its farthest depths. You will then drive along the Nordfjord until you arrive to Stryn. This charming village is situated where the Stryn river, famous for its salmon fishing, meets the Nordfjord. Here you will have some free time to explore the village with its streets and stores.
The journey continues towards Oppstrynsvatnet, a beautiful turquoise coloured lake situated next to the Jostedal Glacier National Park Center. From there, you will travel through the picturesque Hjelle valley with its many colourful farms. As the road goes up into the mountains, you will notice how the landscape rapidly changes from a green and fertile countryside to a rugged mountain landscape with impressive peaks. Shortly before reaching the high mountain plateau, there will be a photo stop at the famous waterfall of Øvstefossen.
Next up is the challenging road to the top of Mount Dalsnibba. At almost 1500 meters above sea level, the Mount Dalsnibba Sky Walk offers Europe’s highest fjord view accessible by road. From here you can enjoy the amazing view over UNESCO’s Geirangerfjord and the spectacular mountains. The bus will then drive down the steep and winding road towards Flydalsjuvet, a stunning gorge where you will have another opportunity to take in the beautiful view. The last leg of the journey takes you towards the idyllic village of Geiranger, the endpoint of this wonderful excursion.
