The tour starts from Union Square. Most of the attraction is clustered around Union Square, displaying a Baroque style of architecture. Your first visit will be at the Cathedral of St. Michael, with its spire towering 262 feet high and dominating the whole market below. It’s the most representative landmark of the city, and the inside is in Gothic style, bringing you back to the 14th century. You can also admire beautiful medieval frescoes inside.
Next, you will visit Banffy Palace, home to the National Art Museum. This is a Gothic-style building, which belonged to the noble Banffy family. Through the centuries, the building has had many functions: from a protocol residence, to a nationally-known casino, from an apartment building, to an establishment for industrial companies and to a cinema.
After this, you will walk along the one of a kind Mirror Street where the buildings situated on the right are the reflection of the ones on the left side. This place is unique in Europe, and it is situated right in the city center. It is an enjoyable place to take pictures. You will then reach the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral placed in the middle of the square, there lies also the statue of Avram Iancu, the leader of the Romanian revolution in 1848. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to observe the beautiful elements that characterize the National Theatre.
