Vipava Valley & The Karst

Dotted with old villages and towns, the Vipava valley is nested beneath a mighty mountain range and has always been an important path towards the Mediterranean. The locals are cheerful and hospitable, renowned for their fruit and wine growing traditions, as well as amazing cuisine.
Wine tasting in Vipava valley is a must-do. Lepa Vida is a boutique family-run winery with 8 hectares of vineyards where you can try some of the best Slovenian wines such as: sauvignion, malvasia or zelen.
Bizeljsko and the eastern frontier
Bizelsjko is another wine region in Slovenia, mainly famous for its sparkling wines. However, other sorts thrive in this part, which has one of the kindest climates in the country. Some of the wineries hide another ethnology gem - Repnice cellars, with centuries-long tradition which was revived in the last couple of decades. Repnice cellars are a peculiarity of Bizeljsko region and were once used to store turnips and now more commonly for wine storage. If you want to taste good sparkling wine and take some beautiful photos Bizeljsko is the perfect place, as it is covered with green hills with plenty of vineyards scattered between small villages and forests.
