You will meet your guide in front of the Basilica, where you will start your guided tour of the Sassi di Matera, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, and enjoy the view of an exceptional landscape.
You will walk along the Sasso Caveoso, the most suggestive part of the Sassi: from this district you can see how the houses rise from the living rock where human settlement and nature merge in harmony. The route then continues with a visit to a Casa Grotta, a house typically furnished and transformed into a real museum in the rock. Then we will move on to visit the rocky Church of San Pietro in Monterrone, an ancient settlement of Benedictine monks.
