Explore two of Turkey’s great Pamphylian cities on this full-day tour of Side and Aspendos, and a visit the Manavgat Waterfalls. Let your imagination run free as you stand on the stage of the grand Aspendos amphitheater, then roam the sprawling ruins of ancient Side and pose for photos by the seafront Temple of Apollo.
On this 8-hour trip you’ll head out in the morning for a visit to Aspendos, one of the most important cultural and economic centers of Pamphylia. Every year thousands of people come to see the best well-preserved amphitheater in Turkey, built in 155 c.e. with a capacity of 7,000 spectators.
Today the amphitheater hosts up to 10,000 people for shows such as the annual Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival.
After lunch you’ll visit the ancient city of Side. The city is located on a peninsula and features ruins of a Roman amphitheater, a columned road, a temple to Dionysus, and a museum in a former Turkish bath. Admire the Temple of Apollo, which is the most beautiful site in Side, situated by the sea on the ancient harbor.
On the way back to Alanya you’ll stop to visit the Manavgat Waterfalls. This is a place of exceptional natural beauty and fresh, clean air. You’ll see pine forests, waterfalls, and a river replete with trout and turtles.
