Cappadocia is a magical world of cones, pillar pinnacles and fairy chimneys – all created by ancient volcanic eruptions, wind and water. You'll fly from Antalya to this region of fairytale landscapes for a day trip with a difference. Among the landmarks you'll visit are the ‘underground city' of Çardak and the Zelve open-air museum.
The sightseeing kicks off at Çardak, a subterranean city with a multi-level maze of houses carved by early Christians. There are about 100 low, narrow and sloping passages accessed through the courtyards of ground-level houses. Next, we'll visit Pigeon Valley en route to Pasabaglari.
Monks once inhabited Pasabaglari, a valley of hundreds of fairy chimneys rising into the sky. These create a surreal landscape that continues towards Zelve. This valley of complex, rock-carved churches decorated with Byzantine-era frescoes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There'll also be time to see the ‘Three Graces' fairy chimneys before flying back to Antalya.
