Just a few miles from the mainland, De Palm is not your average desert island. Rather than vacant sands, this place is home to a waterpark and an all-inclusive bar and restaurant. You'll hop over for a day of family fun – snorkelling with parrot fish, slipping down slides and unlimited goes on the banana boats.
Snorkelling is the most popular activity here. The coral reef, just a few swimming strokes from the shore, is one of the best places to use your mask and flippers in Aruba. The blue parrot fish are hard to get your head around at first. These bright blue metre-long fish look like cartoon characters.
There are ways to upgrade your time here, too. A snuba session, for example, is a hybrid of snorkelling and scuba diving, or sea trekking is the new thing to try. Hit the all-you-can-eat buffet with drinks for lunch and spend the rest of the day making the most of this pleasure-seekers' island – volleyball, salsa, ziplines – you name it.
