What to expect
Embark on a 1-day tour of Kathmandu and discover all the major attractions of the Nepalese capital! The tour guides are all survivors who are being taught the skills needed to work in the tourism sector in order to become financially independent and reduce their risk of being re-trafficked. By participating in this tour, you are contributing directly to the livelihoods of the locals and allowing them to create meaningful and dignified employment for themselves.Your tour guides will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 AM and take you to the first stop of the tour. Start with a visit to Swayambhunath, also known as the monkey temple. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist temple home to hundreds of holy monkeys, making it an unmissable sight. The temple itself is a beautiful place, but the hundreds of playful monkeys will make your visit unforgettable!After spending some quality time with the fascinating monkeys, drive to Boudhanath, Nepal's most important Buddhist temple. Boudhanath is one of the biggest stupas and the most important Buddhist site outside of Tibet. After touring the Baoudhanath, head to Pashupatinath, Nepal's most prominent Hindu temple. Enjoy the beautiful architecture of this 5th-century temple before breaking for lunch. At 1:30 PM, head to SASANE's headquarters for an authentic Nepalese cooking class! Learn how to prepare momos, the tasty Nepalese version of dumplings. Enjoy your momos and a traditional home-cooked vegetarian lunch.After lunch, travel to the Old Market and Durbar Square to explore this neighborhood of Kathmandu. Hunt for some unique souvenirs in the Thamel shopping district before heading back to your hotel.
