Are you fascinated by the mystical folklore, the Lochs, the wild scenery and the fascinating history that’s been the pride of Scotland for centuries? If you consider yourself as an enthusiastic connoisseur, and occasional amateur or a complete novice in whisky, this one-day tour from Edinburgh is definitely for you! Hop on board and enjoy a ride to some of the most beautiful sites of the Scottish countryside, such as Melrose Abbey, the Scottish Borders and Rosslyn Chapel.

This one day tour from Edinburgh is the best way to explore the intriguing Rosslyn Chapel, experience the pretty Border town of Melrose and discover its Abbey. You will then take you from the spiritual to the spiritful with 'a tour and a taste' at a small and rare malt whisky distillery.

Here’s how your full day tour is going to happen. On a brisk morning, hop on a comfortable luxury coach in Edinburgh, just by the famous Edinburgh Castle and head out of the city to the village of Rosslyn, to stop at Rosslyn Chapel. Described as the "Library in Stone", the inside walls of Rosslyn Chapel are covered in thousands of ancient carvings, each with a story of its own. You can also learn of the myths and legends surrounding the chapel, including tales of the Knights Templar. Rosslyn Chapel became even more popular throughout the world after Dan Brown’s blockbusting novel, "The Da Vinci Code”.

From Rosslyn, the journey continues into the heart of the Scottish Borders, an area rich in hills, valleys, rivers and moorland, as well as being the traditional home to Scottish rugby. You will see the historic town of Melrose, which happens to be the birthplace of the game of Rugby Sevens and location of Melrose Abbey, founded in 660, said to be the burial place of the casket containing the heart of Robert the Bruce. This is the perfect place to stop and have some lunch, some free time and some fun exploring Melrose and its Abbey.

The journey doesn’t end here! As you start heading back to Edinburgh, you will travel via St. Boswells and pause for a photo stop at Scott's View, where we can enjoy spectacular scenic views and take some amazing pictures. On your journey north, stop at Pencaitland, where you will have the opportunity to visit the charming Glenkinchie Distillery, one of few Lowland distilleries in Scotland for a whisky tour. Here you can enjoy "a tour and a taste", learn more about "the water of life" and sample some of Glenkinchie's finest malts. Only then will it be time to go back to Edinburgh, tired but delighted by this exciting adventure.
