Musement is dedicated to bringing you the best, which is why we're introducing you to the TUI Collection designed by TUI, the world leader in travel.
‘Fuerteventura is an oasis in the desert of civilization,' says David, one of our guides. And on this full day tour, you'll not only see the island, but experience it. You'll visit an eco-farm for a workshop, taste local, sustainable foods and see how the island's famous flour is made. Then, to top it all, you'll explore the history-steeped village of Betancuria, too.
Of his favourite parts of the tour, David says, ‘You'll get to make an aloe vera product and see how the delicious Canarian mojo sauce is made, learn how to interpret geological and manmade shapes, and even visit villages built near volcanoes to be safe from pirate attacks.' Head inland and your first point of call is an organic farm located in the middle of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Aloe vera, olive trees, fruit and vegetables are sustainably grown here. After a look around, you'll take part in a workshop to extract aloe vera gel and taste olive oil.
Next, you'll find the secret to making traditional Canarian ‘mojo' sauce. This flavour-packed salsa is a tasty condiment, typically served with papas arrugadas, a local potato dish. There's also a tapas lunch in Valle de Santa Inés, before the tranquillity of whitewashed Betancuria – the colonial era capital – beckons for exploration. Finally, we round off at the windmill museum, where you'll try locally produced ‘gofio' flour. It's an island staple. And with a tour of the museum, you'll get to see how it's made.
