Gran Canaria's landscapes are so diverse that it's like a small continent in the middle of the sea. It all means it's a hiking heaven. These carefully selected routes are about 4-5 hours long and feature the sort of rugged sights for which the island is famed. Depending on the day, there are three hiking trails – Roque Nublo, Magical Waterfalls and Summit of Gran Canaria.
Roque Nublo is the unusual rock formation that has become of the island's iconic landmarks. You'll follow an easy 7km trail through pine-clad landscapes ravaged by volcanic explosions millions of years ago.
The 7km Magical Waterfalls hike takes you through some of the lushest parts of the interior. You'll encounter streams and canals hidden in shaded woods and trek through valleys of exotic flora.
And on the 10km Summit of Gran Canaria hike, you'll follow a trail close to the island's highest peak – Pico de las Nieves, which has great views of the island and its symbol Roque Nublo.
