What to expect

‘Left', ‘right', ‘get down' – no, not an aggressive gym instructor but what you'll hear as you make your way down the River Tenorio rapids. This white water rafting tour is Costa Rica at its best – action and adventure in the wild.

After driving to the heart of Guanacaste, you'll be given a safety briefing before donning a helmet and life vest. Then, it's time to take a seat in your raft and get ready to drift down the fast-flowing river. You'll raft through the rainforest, so keep an eye out for wildlife such as iguanas, monkeys and tropical birds.

Costa Rica is rated as one of the best spots in the world for white water rafting, and there's a reason why – grade three and four rapids, set against a lush tropical backdrop. Your guides will steer you through the rapids and over the falls as you navigate the eight-mile route. After you've dried off, you'll be treated to a spot of lunch.
