What to expect

Spend a relaxing morning exploring the delightful garden villages of Hue. You'll meet a friendly local family, learn about their daily life and history, enjoy a leisurely bike ride around Thuy Bieu, and try your hand at making Banh Hue (Hue cake) for lunch.

Explore the ancient village of Thuy Bieu on the banks of the Perfume River. Here, you will take a peek inside a famous pomelo garden house that was once a regular haunt for the royal family, before taking a relaxing stroll through its fruit garden. Then, you'll hop on a bike for a ride around the village, stopping to visit a local family and/or a village community temple. If you are uncomfortable riding a bike, you can skip this part and instead soak your feet in an herbal tub in the family's garden. Once your ride is over, you'll make your way back to the house to make your own sesame candy and some Hue cakes. You can, of course, sample the sweets of your labor, alongside a cup of fresh green tea. Hue cake (Banh Hue) is a term for cakes in general, but these share the common base ingredients of rice flour and shrimp. Then, sit down and taste your handiwork before heading back to Hue.

To take your experience to the next level you can choose to have a private guide, just for you and your group! Simply select the option you prefer at checkout.

There'll be plenty of stops for food, and a bit of history along the way too.Once you've met up with your guide, we'll get the tour underway just as we mean to go on – with a stop for some ‘banh beo', steamed rice discs topped with shrimp, and ‘ram it', sticky rice dumplings. After that, we'll head on foot to another stop to try a tasty Hue pancake.Ride across Perfume River via either Phu Xuan or Trang Tien bridge, to reach the Royal Citadel, where you'll try the third dish on this food tour - ‘Bun bo Hue', a beef vermicelli soup.
