Hike, eat, and explore the natural beauty and small towns of the Ruta del Sabor of the grand Sierra Gorda mountain range during this two day immersive experience!Day 1Your journey starts in the colorful old mining town of Pinal de Amoles, nestled high amongst the mountains. There you'll meet your local guide, who will take you to nearby Cuatro Palos. Take a short walk to the breathtaking lookout atop Cerro de la Media Luna (Halfmoon Hill). The lookout offers some of the most impressive views of the 60 million year old Sierra Gorda mountain range. After taking in the views, you'll be ready to appreciate lunch in one of the traditional fondas along the Ruta del Sabor. After lunch, travel to El Chuvejé waterfall, a nearly 30 meter drop into crystal-clear rock pools, perfect for paddling in on a warm day. Then, you're onto the heart of the Sierra Gorda: the historic town of Jalpan, where you'll catch your first glimpse of one of the region's five World Heritage-listed Franciscan Missions. Explore the town and the local handicrafts stores before dining in one of the town's traditional restaurants. Spend the night in the cozy Centro Tierra Eco-Cabins, located in the beautiful Sierra Gorda Alliance grounds in Jalpan.Day 2Start your day with a delicious breakfast in one of the traditional fondas along the Ruta del Sabor. From Jalpan, head to the charming town of Conca, where you can visit the second of the five Franciscan Missions. While in Conca, you'll get to visit one of Mexico's oldest living trees, as well as nearby natural springs. You can then choose between staying at the local thermal springs to swim and relax, or (weather permitting) head to Las Adjuntas – the meeting point between the warm water of the Santa María river, and the aqua-blue cool waters of Ayutla river. After enjoying a swim and local lunch, it will be time to head back to Jalpan, to conclude your introduction to the Sierra Gorda mountains and the Ruta del Sabor.
