Experience the beauty of the Knuckles mountain range during this full-day 2.5-mile hike. The Sinhalese refer to it as "Dumbara Kanduvetiya", meaning "the mist-laden mountain range" and its name comes from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resembles the knuckles of clenched fists when viewed from afar.
Your tour will start early in the morning at 6.00am with a pick-up from your hotel and arrival at the destination after 2 hours. You will marvel at the beauty of the Sera Ella waterfall located in the Matale district. Enjoy the dry but cool cave hidden behind the curtain water as it flows down the rockface. You can also take a refreshing dip into the natural pool by the waterfall.
Continue to Atanwala, a traditional village that overlooks terraced paddy fields and gardens, and experience the authentic Sri Lankan lifestyle still alive. End your tour with a visit to the Pitawala Pathana, an unusual expanse of grassland with considerable ecological value. The walk to Pitawala Pathana is an easy task and it ends in a steep cliff which is similar to the world-renowned World’s End in Horton Plains.
