The sands of High Atlas are sprinkled with Hollywood stardust. On this epic excursion, you’ll travel by 4x4 along a former caravan route that linked Marrakech to the Sahara, drive across the dizzying Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass, and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou as well as Ouarzazate.
Start our ascent into the Atlas Mountains by 4x4 along the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass stopping at Taddart and Telouet – a Kasbah on the former caravan route. There’s a break for lunch en route. Then, at Aït Benhaddou, you’ll explore inside its ksar walls, where Hollywood films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed.
You’ll see the kasbahs, or merchant houses, within the city walls that are a great example of earthen clay architecture. Next up is Ouarzazate – known as ‘the door of the desert’ – and its film studios, after which we’ll return to Marrakech.
