What to expect

Miri is a well-known city in Sarawak which is famed for being the location of Malaysia's first Oil Well that was discovered in the year 1910. Aside from the Oil Well, there are plenty of important landmarks found in Miri that contribute to the history of the city.

Stop by the Handicraft Heritage Centre to purchase some memorable souvenirs for your trip to Miri. Next, visit the Tua Pek Kong Temple, whereby according to legend, work started in the temple in 1913, in order to give thanks to the deity for helping to end a mysterious epidemic. Another attraction of Miri would be Tamu Khas, whereby you can experience a local native market and purchase some local tropical fruits. Also, visit Sau Ching Tian Temple, which is one of the largest Taoist temple in Southeast Asia.

Lambir Hills National Park is a 31 kilometre drive from Miri city. It is considered as one of the main attractions in Miri due to the fact that it is one of the most biodiverse parks in the country. There are a few waterfalls in the Lambir Hills National Park, however, Latak Waterfall remains as the most famous one. Latak Waterfall is approximately 25 metres in height. Upon reaching the national park, you would need to trek for approximately 15 minutes to reach the waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in this beautiful, natural setting and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that the national park provides.

There are many types of wildlife found in the Lambir Hills National Park. In the night walk, you would be able to experience a jungle trek after nightfall and observe the nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitat. Be sure to bring along a macro camera to capture the many wildlife you would encounter in this tour for memory keepsakes.
