Taking a tour of the ruins of Pompeii is a unique experience. It's like embarking on a journey through time, where you can experience how life was in ancient times. Not only public life, but especially private life as well... And then, one fine summer day, it all came to an abrupt end! The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE buried Pompeii under a blanket of ash and lapilli. Most of the city's inhabitants, fleeing their homes, found death on the coast. The few people who stayed behind, hoping to save their lives in the basements of their homes, died by asphyxiation. The plaster casts of their bodies in agony are a testament to the tragedy. Learn more about our guided tour of the Pompeii Excavations, which will end at the well-known and recently restored Villa of Mysteries.
