For the first time in Paris, discover 300 paintings, drawings, engravings and books by František Kupka at Grand Palais from the 21st of March to the 30th of July 2018.
This exceptionnal retrospective trace the artistic process of this French pioneer of abstract painting and one of the first completely non representational artists. The mature works of Kupka contributed much to the foundations of purely abstract painting in the 20th century.
In 1908–11, he experimented with Fauvism and with pointillism, a technique invented by the French painter Georges Seurat, whose colour-contrast theories led Kupka to study the aesthetic properties of colours.
