There were reasons behind the French Revolution of the 18th century. The Palace of Versailles was one of them. Built at a time when the people were starving, Versailles epitomizes the extravagance of Louis XIV. Rooms covered with gold leaf, furniture quilted in the finest velvet and clothes crafted from only the best silk and handmade lace.
Join our Versailles tours from Paris to explore the excesses that sparked a revolution and left Marie Antoinette behind bars. With an expert, English-speaking guide, you’ll learn all about the history of this incredible palace. They’ll lead you through vast corridors and ballrooms to explore the best areas of the Palace – such as the Hall of Mirrors, the King and Queen’s bedrooms and the incredible lounges, filled with stunning artworks, chandeliers and ornate furniture.
You’ll also have some time to enjoy the outdoors with one hour of free time to explore the Gardens of Versailles. Covering 1,800 acres, these manicured grounds are the crown jewels of Versailles, with ornate fountains, orange groves, rolling lawns and stunning water features stretching as far as the eye can see.
Depending on the day and scheduling, our Versailles tours from Paris include the Musical Fountains Show or the Musical Gardens. Meanwhile, for the Musical Gardens you’ll hear delightful music while discovering some of its most idyllic spots.
