What to expect

La Certosa is without doubt one of the masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance. Built at the end of the fourteenth century as a family mausoleum, it has seen working on its building hundreds of sculptors, painters and many great wood carvers. Look at the stunning façade made entirely of marble and decorated with hundreds of details, including statues in the dome, high-reliefs and bas-reliefs, as well as a deep spirituality that you breathe inside the church.
The starry vaults painted with the blue of precious lapis lazuli, funny trompel'oeil with Carthusian monks overlooking to see who walks in the church, the altar and canceled Baroque: everything evokes the power and prestige of the families Visconti and Sforza, under which the work was made .
