Pylos and Methoni Tour

Once known as Navarino, Pylos is a historic seaside town in the Peloponnese that deserves all the attention it'll get on this tour. On your way over from Kalamata, you'll stop at a lookout point to cast your eyes over Navarino Bay and the island of Sfaktiria, a site of three battles. Afterwards, you'll board the boat to sail out into the bay, stopping for a swim along the way, and seeing the battle sites up close. You'll then head Methoni. Free time here will allow you to explore at your own pace. Most make a beeline for the 15th century fortress, one of the most striking in the Peloponnese.

Once one of the most remote parts of Greece, the Mani Peninsula retains its characteristic villages, rugged coastline and far-out coves. After leaving Kalamata, you'll set off towards Agios Nikolaos to experience a typical fishing village where time has stood still. Then it's onwards to the Diros Caves. Enter via a stairway and you'll reach the underground lake where boats await to take you on a voyage past centuries-old stalactites and stalagmites, and through lit caverns and tunnels. Once you've explored it all, you'll travel to Areopoli, a historic town of towers and churches – and whose name means ‘city of Ares', the Greek god of war.
