The Vatican Museums contain masterpieces of painting, sculpture and other works of art collected by the popes through the centuries. They include several magnificent works of art, such as the Sistine Chapel, the Raphael Rooms and Loggia, and the Borgia Apartment with frescoes of Pinturicchio.

After the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, your guide will lead you to St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest religious building ever built, and one of the holiest sites in Christendom.

St. Peter’s Basilica stands on the traditional site where Peter, the apostle who is considered the first Pope, was crucified and buried. Originally founded by Constantine in 324, St. Peter’s Basilica was rebuilt during 16th century by Renaissance masters including Bramante, Michelangelo and Bernini.
