Explore the Eagles Nest and Berchtesgaden with this 4-hour trip and enjoy breathtaking Alpine landscapes on the Rossfeld mountain road.
On the way to the Eagles Nest, you will see the impressive Untersberg mountain and picturesque villages of the Obersalzberg mountain area. The Obersalzberg has been a popular holiday region since the late 19th century. During WWII it was home to the Second Headquarter of Hitler, the so-called Eagle’s Nest, which was destroyed at the end of the war. Take a 25-minutes bus ride up to the Eagles Nest on an elevation of around 6000 feet. Nowadays the Eagles Nest is a restaurant that offers spectacular views over the mountains and valley of Austria and Germany. Have a look at the historical areas of the building that have not been destroyed during the war and walk around to enjoy stunning views over the Königssee lake and the Watzmann mountain.
After the Eagles Nest visit, have a short stroll through the quaint little town of Berchtesgaden. Founded in the 11th century and emerged through the salt mining business, it offers colorful houses, arts and crafts and delicious beer. On Germany's highest scenic road, you will drive back to Salzburg and enjoy once more panoramic views on the mountain landscape.
