Discover world-class wines, picturesque villages & wonderfully green landscapes on our farm-to-table Private Vienna Wine Tour.
Vienna is surrounded by renowned wine regions and Lower Austria is known as the cradle of Austrian viticulture, so why not explore the beautiful forests and vineyards of its Thermal Region, just south of Vienna, which is home to traditionally quaint wine villages and some interesting endemic varietals.
- Start your tour at Vienna's 'Wien Mitte' railway station to meet your private guide and to board your train right to the heart of the Thermal Region wine country.
- With a welcome glass of sekt in your hand, and in the ideal setting within the grounds of one of Austria's oldest wine making institutions, you'll discover how monks became wine pioneers of their time, spreading their expertise across Europe and forming new wine regions as they went. This is followed by a short (20 min) walk through vineyards to the historic wine village of Gumpoldskirchen.
- After lunch at a traditional wine tavern, the highlight of the day is a wonderfully intimate wine tasting and Q&A with one of the region's finest producers. Here, you'll sample the region's indigenous varieties, wines that even the most experienced wine drinkers will not have sampled before! At the same time, you'll enter the magic world of viticulture and learn more about wine making in Austria from those who actually do it.
- The day ends with a short train ride back to Vienna, arriving around 17:30.
