When you think of the Netherlands, you think of tulips. So when you come to the Netherlands during springtime, you want to see, feel and smell all the beautiful flowers and this is your chance! Windmills, picturesque villages, tulip fields, dikes with sheep, traditional Dutch houses and lovely local people. During this unique tour, you will see it all in a small group, with a local guide by your side.
The day starts off in one of the most famous polders of the Netherlands with tulip fields as far as the eye can see. Take your time to take some great pictures.
Passing more colorful tulip fields, windmills, cows, meadows, ditches, dikes and idyllic landscapes make your way to the world-famous Enclosing Dike. This dam connects the two northern provinces and protects half of the country against the force of the sea. It’s also the gateway to the Amsterdam Lake District. With your free time here, walk across to see the Wadden sea and climb the monument (a watchtower looking out across both the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea).
Then, enter the Amsterdam Lake District, located in the province of Friesland and visit the picturesque open-air museum village. Meet the villagers and travel back in time with a craftsman as your local guide. Explore the interior of an old Dutch farmhouse, walk across the grasslands, and find out what happened to the lake… A typical Dutch Farmers Lunch will await you at the restaurant (included in the tour).
After lunch, it’s time for 2 typical Dutch highlights. First, you will visit a traditional Dutch windmill. Furthermore a guided tour through a picturesque village will give you a close look inside the life of the locals.
After this unique visit it is time to visit more colorful tulip fields. Every day we look for the most beautiful fields! Tulips only bloom for a couple of weeks each spring, so strike a pose, say cheese, and take plenty of pictures.
Once the afternoon draws to a close, it’s time to head back to Amsterdam to enjoy your evening in the city.
