Meet boutique producers of prosciutto, parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar and wine in the Food Valley of Emilia-Romagna, where the most famous and delicious Italian food comes from. Taste these delicacies paired with local wines and learn how they're produced. At the end of the tour, enjoy a delicious 6-course Italian lunch in a family-run restaurant, including homemade pasta and a selection of local wines.
First, you will visit a Parmigiano‐Reggiano PDO factory. The authentic parmesan cheese is made today as it was eight centuries ago, using the same genuine ingredients, the same methods and secular knowledge that cheese masters have handed down, generation after generation. The visit will be followed by a tasting of this extraordinary product.
You will then meet a Prosciutto PDO producer. One of the earliest references to ham production in the area appeared in about 100 BC in the writings of Cato. During classical times, ham from the region was one of the delicacies featured on banquet tables. You'll end the tour with a delicious tasting.
Have you ever heard about Italy’s "black gold"? It is the traditional balsamic vinegar which is only produced in the areas of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Born centuries ago as a medicine for the exclusive use of kings and emperors, it has found its place in the kitchen as a product of excellence. Sample this delicacy and learn special family recipes based on it.
Finally, enjoy a wine tasting experience in one of the most famous wineries in the area. You will tour the cellar and discover how grapes are picked, crushed, blended and bottled. You’ll walk through beautiful vineyards with a sommelier and taste the finished product.
The tour ends with a delicious 6-course gourmet lunch accompanied by a selection of local wines served in a family-run restaurant on the hills.
