What to expect
Food, Neighborhood, Street Art of Palermo Viejo

In this neighborhood and food tour you'll discover the culinary secrets of Palermo Viejo while enjoying the local food, learning about its history, and observing the vibrant street art.
  • Start with a typical Porteño breakfast, then sample Argentina's famous steak and relish the emblematic Argentine sandwich along with a variety of local appetizers and snacks
  • Wine is included during lunch and you could have a craft beer in one of the other locations.
  • Start your tour at what used to be the doorway to Buenos Aires, and admire local street art while walking from one place to the next
  • Communal food walk for 1 to 8 people
  • Frank loves to eat and to travel, and also ran a very popular chili cookoff in Buenos Aires to raise funds for nonprofit organizations

About your host, Frank: "My name is Frank and I've been living in Argentina since 1999. Back in 2001 I left the corporate world and took my first entrepreneurial steps. I helped start an organic preserves brand and Argentina's first gourmet cookie brand. Now I want to share Argentina's culinary secrets with you."

    Breakfast
We will start with a typical Porteño breakfast of Coffee with Medialunas. We will have one of the best medialunas in the neighborhood.

Snack or refreshing drink at Plaza Italia
(Seasonal - Winter) This is also a very typical local drink that is normally consumed all day long. We will go over the rituals and customs surrounding this drink and accompany it with another local favorite, alfajores (two cookie wafers sandwiching a layer of decadent dulce de leche, covered in real chocolate)
(Seasonal - Summer) For hot summer days we switch to a refreshing cocktail that is named after Guiseppe Garibaldi who's statue we visit and learn all about him when we visit Plaza Italia.

    Argentine Steak
We will stop at a local non-touristy parrilla (grill) and share a steak lunch. We normally accompany this with any of the following, based on availability: pure mixto (mashed potatoes and squash); morcipan (blood sausage on bread topped with salsa criolla); provoleta (provolone cheese prepared on the grill); bread; water; wine.

    Choripan
We will stop for one of Argentina's most beloved sandwich. This place actually gives the traditional sandwich a modern twist.

More snacks or craft beer or coffee/tea
At this point some people are full, while others can choose another typical snack. There are plenty of options to choose from and if you can't eat anymore we could also just have some craft beer or specialty coffee or tea.

    Ice Cream
Argentina has a long tradition of making amazing ice cream. For me, it is among the best ice cream in the world.
