Add some adventure into exploring the Andalusia of old. Go off-road in the Almijara Mountains with this small group 4x4 tour of whitewashed villages and wow-factor viewpoints. Venture along the rocky coast to the village of Frigiliana and stop by the mountain towns of Acebuchal and Competa. Topping it all is a wine museum visit to try some typical tapas.
First up is Frigillana. It's a mainstay on lists of Spain's most beautiful villages and the drive is a remarkable, too. You'll head inland to the foothills of the Almijara Mountains to explore this typical whitewashed village with some free time.
Next up is Acebuchal – a one-time ghost town given a second chance. Abandoned in 1948 by families fleeing General Franco, it lay empty until Spain's dictatorship ended and democracy returned in the 1980s. Snap a few photos atop the highest peak in these parts – Punto Blanco – then visit Competa. Amble along the hilly streets and browse the shops before a wine and tapas tasting ends the tour.
