What to expect

After getting picked up from your hotel, you will be dropped off at a meeting point near the Red Fort. Your friendly guide will meet you here, and you will hop aboard rickshaw or tuk tuk (rickshaw powered by a motor). This ride will take you to the old colorful markets of the area – these are bustling places, where vehicles, animals and human beings jostle for space.

Your first stop will be at the Jama Masjid. Built by the mighty Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, between 1644 and 1656 AD, the Jama Masjid is easily one of the grandest mosques in the world. After your stop at Jama Masjid, you will board your rickshaw/tuk tuk and ride through the chaotic Khari Baoli, which has remained one of the biggest spice markets in Asia.

After that, you may grab a quick bite at Chandni Chowk, before proceeding to the Gurudwara Sis Ganj. This Sikh temple was built in 1783 to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. Don’t miss the chance to stroll through the quaint local market here and interact with the locals. Your last sightseeing destination of the day is the Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir, the oldest and most famous Jain temple in Delhi. Situated opposite the Red Fort, it is said to have been built during the reign of Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor. The temple complex also has a very famous bird hospital. Finally, it will be time to return to the meeting point near Red Fort, from where, you will be driven back to your hotel.
