Freiburg Germany for families is a tour designed for families and small groups of up to eight people. Many families and friends like to avoid mixing in larger groups, this is even more true during the covid 19 pandemic.
You will meet your local guide in front of the tourist information centre in Freiburg. From there you will discover the old town of Freiburg with your guide. Of course, you will learn some modern facts about the southernmost city in Germany. You will then dive into 900 years of history. Starting at the Gerichtslaube, the oldest administrative building in Freiburg. In front of the two town halls you will also learn of the beautiful mosaics that can be seen on the floors. Your private group will continue to the ornamental Walfischhaus, once the home of Ersamus of Rotterdam.
Crossing the main shopping street, called “Kajo” by the locals, the group will reach the famous market square with its cathedral, the Freiburg Minster. You will hear about this masterpiece of gothic architecture. This guided city walk continues to the Konviktstrasse, one of the most beautiful lanes in Germany. Here you will also discover the history of the “Bächle”, the iconic little creeks that run though the old town of Freiburg Germany.
Passing one of the two surviving town gates, the “Schwabentor” you will then enter the area of the tanners before ending at Augustiner square.
