As Gran Canaria's capital, Las Palmas packs-in plenty of history and easy-on-the-eye architecture. Visit two of the city's most significant buildings with this small group tour. Grab the perfect selfie at the Christopher Columbus museum inside the 15th-century Casa de Colon and see Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, a grand theatre with views over the Atlantic Ocean
It all starts with a stroll through Las Palmas' pretty old quarter, Vegueta to reach Casa de Colon. All overhanging wooden balconies and ornate archways, this former governor's mansion is where the great explorer Christopher Columbus is said to have stayed in 1492. The exhibits in the museum are fascinating.
Then it's time to stretch your legs with a bike ride from one side of Las Palmas to the other. Awaiting you on the southern end of the promenade is the eye-catching Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, which looks like a cross between a mosque and a lighthouse. Named after a famous Spanish tenor and son of the city, it's an acoustic and architectural wonder that you'll get to see from the outside. Be sure to get plenty of photos.
