Go on an exciting journey and experience the history of immigration and emigration over four epochs in the BallinStadt Hamburg Emigration Museum. In a total of 2,500 sqm through three buildings, you will accompany people who emigrated with the wishes and the dreams they carried on their way to a new home. Get to know Albert Ballin, the founder of the emigration halls in Hamburg at the time, and follow the traces of your ancestors in the family research center of BallinStadt.

The Emigration Museum BallinStadt Hamburg focuses on emigration from Hamburg (from 1850 to 1934) and the development of migration over four historical epochs. The stories are always accompanied by human cravings, fates and stories.
The reasons to migrate are timeless. Escape from war, hunger and persecution or just simply a thirst for adventure, curiosity and the dream of a new and better life were the motivation for emigration and immigration then and now.
