Travel to Zelenogradsk, one of the oldest resorts on the Baltic sea coast. The history of Zelenogradsk (formerly Kranz) originates from the tavern "Krantakrug" (from the Prussian word "Krantas" - steep bank) and is more than two centuries old. Numerous boarding houses, sanatoriums, beautiful hotels, and fashionable private homes have graced the Kranz coast.
During the tour of Zelenogradsk, you will see the well-preserved architectural appearance of the city from German times and the main attractions: the Church of St. Adalbert, the monument to the Zelenograd cats, the post office building, the former fashionable hotel "Baltic sea", where Prime Minister Stolypin stayed with his wife and daughter during his visits. In honor of this fact, a memorial plaque was installed on the historic building. You will also visit the Murarium cat Museum, which has a private art collection, the largest of its kind in Russia. The Museum is located in the restored building of the 1905 Water tower, a building 40 meters tall. Almost every major locality in the region then had its own "special" water tower. During a visit to the Museum, you can climb to the observation deck of the tower, which offers a great view of the city.
You can also plunge into the middle ages while visiting castle "Nesselbek", recreated according to all the canons of medieval architecture. The Museum of medieval torture (Accessible only to people aged 16 or older) located in the castle tower, reveals the history of corporal punishment and the tools of the Inquisition. The Museum of medieval tortures rightfully occupies an honorable place among the museums of Kaliningrad and is worthy of your attention. Here are the tools that were used to brutally torture and kill intruders, conspirators, and criminals at different times. All the exhibits are restored based on drawings and other historical documents and allow visitors to get acquainted with what these tools looked like many years ago.
Meals are provided in Zelenogradsk (optional for an additional fee).
