The caves may be deep underneath Slovenia, but the beauty won't remain hidden for long as your expert guides lead you down to the 21 kilometers of labyrinthine passages, caverns, and great halls. The ceilings and walls are adorned with dripstones and other geological features which have been created over millions of years by the River Pivka. You'll disembark and wander the translucent halls, marveling at the ethereal surroundings you find yourselves in. On ascending back to the surface, you'll visit Prejama Castle, the former home of the infamous robber knight, Erasmus, a stunning building over-hanging a vertical cliff before heading to the infamous lake, where the rich and royal had their summer residences over the years.
Jumping aboard a traditional pletna boat, you'll glide over the lake to Slovenia's only island where you can ring the bell enshrouded in mystery and make a wish. Back on the mainland, you'll drive around the lake for a 360-degree view, before going back in time and exploring the castle perched high above you, which was the property of the Bishops of Brixen and where today, old crafts and demonstrations are still put on, giving you true insight into how Slovenian life used to be.
