What to expect
Visit Ichimay Wari, a collective of artisans from the Huarpas and Wari cultures dedicated to preserving their ancestral heritage through artistic tradition. Be welcomed upon arrival by your Ichimay Wari guide, and explore the various artisan-led workshops offered here. Participate in 30-minute workshops ranging in topic from weaving to traditional pottery, and trade stories with your teachers! Each artisan has their own artistic specialty and unique insight to share. Discover what it takes to turn raw materials into a work of art: molding, drying, cooking, painting, and detailing. Use the skills you've learned to craft a masterpiece you'll cherish!Groups of ten or more also have the opportunity to prepare and enjoy a traditional pachamanca meal for an additional price. Learn the secrets behind this Andean culinary custom, meaning “earth oven,” that cooks food in a pit dug in the ground and dates back to the Inca Empire! Enjoy this classic Peruvian dish alongside the artisans. Before you leave, be sure to browse the Ichimay Wari boutique for one-of-a-kind, hand-made, authentic souvenirs to bring home!
