Musement is dedicated to bringing you the best, which is why we're introducing you to the TUI Collection designed by TUI, the world leader in travel.
If you're a shopaholic, you'll love this market trip. Spend a morning getting to know Inca, a town famous for leather products and also home to Majorca's largest outdoor market. Carla, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘On Thursdays, hundreds of stalls spread through Inca's central streets. There's lots of good value local leatherware to browse, as well as jewellery, olive wood items, textiles and – of course - fine fresh produce grown on the island. Plaça d'Espanya is a sea of fresh flowers, a lovely sight.'
We'll kick off with a lesson in leather craftsmanship at the Museum of Footwear and Industry. You'll be transported back in time to learn about the evolution of footwear since the 13th century and the industry that sprung up in Inca to supply the island with shoes and other leather goods. From elegant handbags to stylish jackets, sandals to wallets, the museum showcases a wide range of leather articles that have been crafted with unparalleled skill and attention to detail.
Then, it's bargain hunting time. Have a poke around the huge range of stalls at Inca's outdoor market, searching for treasures. The hub of the market is Plaça d'Espanya, and the stalls fan out through the surrounding streets. Browse through an eclectic mix of goods and keep your eyes peeled for traditional Vicenç textiles – a classic Majorcan souvenir – as well as jewellery, clothing and the famous Inca leather to take home a slice of the island's heritage.
